OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: OCT 27 2010 – Jonathan Emile open letter – RE: YOUTUBE

Dear Friends, Family & Fans, 

On October 17th 2011, YouTube Corporation/ Google suspended (terminated) www.youtube.com/JonathanEmile. After three years of building a following of some 120,000 subscribers & friends and nearly 3 million viewers, my account was removed without warning. After allowing YouTube 10 days to resolve the situation I decided to write this open letter.

If you visit http://www.youtube.com/JonathanEmile you will see this message:

“This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy against spam, scams and commercially deceptive content.” 

After reviewing all of YouTube’s policies, I can be sure that I my account was not attached to spam, scams or any-type of commercially deceptive content. The only logicalreason I can glean from this is that YouTube has made a mistake and is unconcerned with justifying its mistake. This situation is a ‘Minor Injustice’, but a ‘Major Drawback’ for my team and I. I have lost direct contact with 120,00 of out over 350,00 fans worldwide.

The first thing that I learned from this experience is that YouTube, whatever it may claim, does not offer ownership to the artist or offer accountability. The second thing I learned is that YouTube is not an alternative to records labels, it is a virtual replacement that gives artists a false sense of ownership, false freedom and a false sense of democracy.

It is important to underline that his letter is meant to reflect my perception as an artist and an owner of a record label. The removal of my account has lead me to realize that  — only a truly democratic, fair an reasonable social media platform can genuinely promote talent, reveal important stories and create a just world. I love the people that use YouTube, however the corporation has failed me as it fails millions of it’s users everyday. Until a truly democratic social community manifests itself, Mindpeacelove Records and I will be developing JonathanEmile.tv to host some of our best and most exclusive content.

JonathanEmile.tv will serve as a platform for people to discover music & films that I have produced or produced for other artists. I will re-release all content posted on YouTube.com/JonathanEmile to jonathanemile.tv  and start the hit counters at the exactly the same numbers that appeared on Oct. 17th 2011. To all the subscribers, fans & commentators on YouTube, I will provide a platform for you to comment on the videos without having to log in, relinquish your rights or buy into a system. Unlike YouTube, JonathanEmile.tv will allow for accurate hit counts, limitless embedding, genuine participation and true independence. While we continue to re-grow on with YouTube.com/JonathanEmileVevo, YouTube.com/JonathanEmileTv, YouTube.com/Mindpeacelove we will attempt to seek out our loyal fans and build new relationships. Exclusive content will be hosted on JonathanEmile.com & JonathanEmile.tv, non-exclusive and promotional content will be available on YouTube for others to discover and use a portal to JonathanEmile.tv
